So the 2023/24 alpine season is over and the end of my children's racing career! It's been a mixed bag of results for me with the highlight though achieving Scottish Team selection!

The English champs saw a disappointing DNF (Did not Finish) at the English Alpine Championships with a straddle on a gate in the top section.

The Welsh Champs in Champery Switzerland seems to be a favourite of mine once again scooping a 3rd place podium. Tough competition with all the GB girls in the British Schoolgirls in Flaine the following week where I still finished 5th and helped our school with my sister Elena achieve 2 podiums, a 2nd place slalom and 3rd place combined SL and GS!

From there to Pra Loup, southern Alps to represent GB again in the International children's cup. In tough conditions on a very salty course, I was one of only 19 racers finishing and was 12th from 50 international racers in slalom. Unfortunately the weather led to other 4 races being cancelled.

Again due to war weather the Scottish champs was also cancelled for the 2nd year after achieving my 2nd place back in 2022.

My results this season meant that I am now top 8 in my year of birth in Great Britain and led to selection for the Scottish Ski Team, my proudest moment so far.

The indoor season started well with a 2nd and a 3rd place in the first two GBR series indoor races.

Nest steps for me is to get some more GS training in over the summer - warmer weather in Europe over the last 2 seasons has led to early glacier closures so this year to guarantee some training we are having to head to Chile, South America.

The cost of this is huge so I am fundraising with events such as raffles, bag packing and working as a ski instructor but I am always reaching out to my supporters to see if they can help.

I have moved my page to gofundme and can be found at this link:

    Hey everyone,

We’ve got some fantastic news about Margi! Based on her stellar performance in the first four races of the season, she’s clinched the second spot for girls U16. That means we’re going to see her represent our country in not one, not two, but three major events in a row!

And guess what? She’s kicking it off with the unofficial World Cup in Folgaria, Italy! We’re super excited for her and can’t wait to see her shine on this international stage. Let’s all cheer for Margi as she takes on this amazing challenge!

First races of the season complete with Ambition races which are used to select for the GB Children's Team. Pleased with my slalom results on a tough hill placing 9th. With 9 GB places available I was hopeful, however my GS results are just not where they need to be unfortunately with a 13th place.

Also achieved a 9th GB racer place at the Lowlands Indoor Championships in Landgraaf, Netherlands in September.

Next stop Champery for the Welsh Champs which went well last year gaining a 3rd place podium and straight from there across to Flaine to represent my school Stafford Grammar in the British Schoolgirls races.

I'm so grateful for the support which you all gave me last season which really helped me to have more training and achieve great results despite the World Winter Games being cancelled!

If you wish to keep supporting me on my journey any further donations would be gratefully received and used towards more focus on my GS training which can only happen in the mountains unfortunately.

Thanks again for your support and interest in my skiing!

    Georgia xx

A great finish to the indoor by winning the final GB race of the series at Chill Factore and the following day gaining 3rd place in the British Championships.

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has donated towards my training as without these generous donations I would not be able to train as much as I do and see the resullts coming through.

A few week's rest now before going back to school and head down for GCSEs with a couple of races thrown in (next stop Netherlands for the Lowlands championships!)

Following on from our update last week it looks like it will be impossible to recschedule the world winter games this year due to the scale of the event this year.

We have not had confirmation yet of any rescheduled date for 2024 which we hope will happen (as the last tie the event went ahead was 2019 due to Covid - it is an event which happens every 2 years).

On that basis, if you donated to Georgia's training and ISF costs specifically rather than a general contribution towards her ongoing training and would like a refund then please let us know by contacting me on helen.blaikie@yahoo.co.uk or 07525 907913.

We are hoping to get a refund on some of the costs and are working through this currently so any refunds received will be allocated against any requested refunds.

She continues to train hard and is heading back over to Austria next week during half term to train with the Excel race academy in preparation for the British Championships in Tignes in April.,

She has just returned from the Welsh Championships in Champery, Switzerland where she gained a 3rd place spot in the U16 female slalom event and also the British Schoolgirls championships in Flaine, France where she helped the school team win best new team in slalom, GS and combined plus 7th best team in slalom and 10th in GS!

Thanks so much for all your support, it has really made a difference allowing her to train more on snow this year!

We have just received a formal communication from the ISF advising of the sad, but clearly prudent decision after developments today, to cancel the ISF Winter Gymnasiade Erzurum 2023. This is obviously very disappointing for everyone involved in the event. I was really looking forward to representing my country next week but thoroughly understand given the circumstances.

At this time, our thoughts are also with the Turkish and Syrian people who have been so greatly impacted by the disaster.

There is a meeting tomorrow to review when the event can be rescheduled so we will keep you posted. All costs have been paid in full currently however if there is a full cancellation we will review insurances and return as much funding as possible.

Please see the message below from the ISF.

    Dear ISF Members,

    Dear Friends,

    • We would like to inform you that by decision of the government of Türkiye, the ISF Winter Gymnasiade 2023 to be held in Erzurum, Türkiye from the 11th to 19th February 2023, has been cancelled, due to ‘force majeure’, following the tragedy of the earthquake which took place today in Türkiye.
    • We would like to extend our appreciation to all of you for your continuing cooperation, and to express our thanks to ISF member the Turkish School Sport Federation, and the Local Organising Committee for all the efforts they have demonstrated in preparing this event.
    • With the tragic events we have all been aware of today, the ISF and the school sport community will continue to stand in solidarity with our friends in Türkiye during these difficult times.
    • Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Yours sincerely,

    The ISF Team

Hi all Georgia has been selected to ski for England at the World Winter Games in north-eastern Turkey in February. It will costs £2,500 so we're trying to raise the funds as none of it is funded by GBSki, Snowsport England or the English Schools Association

Hopefully an unobtrusive way to do this as everyone has so many financial commitments is via easyfundraising - every time you shop you can donate if you don't already donate to a cause!

Here is the info - thanks for looking

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed so far towards my skiing journey.

Thanks to your generosity which allowed me to train last year with my ski team, I have been selected to represent England at the schools World Winter Games (run by the ISF - International Schools Federation).

I am hoping to fly out to Ezurum in north eastern Turkey in February with the other 5 athletes in the Under 16 girls team and the other team members.

The cost of this alone is £2,500 as no funding is available. Thanks again for your contributions towards this and supporting me!
